Bog 2

Bog 2

After rereading Erard’s article I have a much better understanding of what the article is saying. Rereading the article and re annotating has helped me to grasp the topic much better than the first time I read the article. When I read the article the first time I was uninterested and confused, but after discussing it in class and doing an active read again I feel as though I have a far better understanding and appreciation for the article. When actively reading the first time one of my annotations said “I am having a tough time relating to the article and understanding it.” When completing my active read for the second time I wrote over this ” I disagree, I now have a much better understanding for what Erard is talking about.” My annotations became more specific and were about what was going on in the article rather than just me making comments about whether I was enjoying the article or not. I asked many more questions as I was more interested. I believe the in class work helped a great deal when it came to rereading the text as I actually understood what I should be looking for and what Erard was talking about or meant. I also believe glossing the text helped to understand the text as I was forced to actually look up and write down words I didn’t fully understand. When reading the article for the second time I found myself more of a believer and less critical. Although I asked many more questions, which could be thought of as more critical overall I was much more of a believer as I was far more interested and wanted to know more. Overall, rereading and redoing an active read for the second time had a major benefit as I noticed many things I didn’t the first time. It allowed me to see all the points I may have missed before and have a much better understanding of what Erard was putting into his article.

  1. You write: “When actively reading the first time one of my annotations said “I am having a tough time relating to the article and understanding it.” When completing my active read for the second time I wrote over this ‘I disagree, I now have a much better understanding for what Erard is talking about.'”

    And I do a fist pump. 🙂

It’s amazing how confusion can lead to disinterest and/or boredom. I’m glad that you returned to the text to give it a second try. Keep up the good work.
